Juliana M. MarstonJuliana grew up in New Jersey and graduated with her Bachelor's in Environmental Chemistry from Columbia University this year. As an undergraduate research assistant, she worked with the Yip Lab to develop a novel solvent extraction method for lithium recovery from brines. She was also a Columbia Global Thought Scholar in 2024, where she investigated the formation of atmospheric pollutants from biomass burning. Her work has long been motivated by problems at the intersection between chemistry and sustainability, and she is very excited to be working in sustainable polymer chemistry this summer! With Gaile & the MONET REU, she is developing mechanophores for rubber upcycling that she hopes will lead to tougher, longer-lasting materials.
In her free time, Juliana enjoys reading, singing, and baking. She is also the proud owner of way too many plants. e-mail: jmm2512 [at] columbia.edu |
